This is me working for 10 minutes with iShowU recording what I am doing, In the 10 minutes I managed to complete the cover story lines and extra magazine research.

Research And Planning: Update for filming

We came to do the filming today as we had all of the actors in which we needed however we came to get the cameras and when we came to film we noticed that the batteries were not charged and given the time frame we had to film would have not been enough to charge the cameras and film so we have had to delay the filming again to the following Tuesday when we will have all the actors again.

Research And Planning: Extra Magazine Research

 

This magazine is very good at indicating it is about a film with a Horror edge due to the colours that have been used, the dark colours and the red indicate that the magazine cover is based on a horror movie, this would be good in the use of my magazine given that it is a horror and fits in well the font that has been used is also similar to the ones in which I have suggested for my magazine so the fonts I have chosen would be good in the making of my magazine, the layout is also very appropriate and could be used for my magazine.

We had planned to do our filming on the 6th of December however the two male characters we need for the filming are not free at the times we need due to having an exam and so we have had to move the filming to money the 10th of December as this is when they are free.

Research And Planning: Progress so far

We haven't yet managed to do our filming due to not being able to get the people we are filming at the same time due to their lessons being at clashing times and we also have to do it in college hours given our setting is in college, we plan on doing our filming for the 11th which is the next lesson.

Costume isn't going to be needed in the making of my magazine due to me using a close up of a person face, however the props in which I could use would be some makeup to add to the effects on the image that is being taken.

This is a good font in which I could use for the masthead on my magazine, the fonts name is Básica.

This is yet another font that I could use for the masthead of my magazine, the fonts name is Angie's New House.

 Coolvetica seems like an appropriate font in which would fit my magazine well also.

This couture font would also be good to use on the masthead of my magazine.

This Dock 11 font also seems to fit in well and would make a good font to use for the masthead of my magazine.

The most appropriate font in which I believe I could use for the masthead of my magazine at this current time is Dock 11 given that it is sharp.

These are two of the other documents that Kyle had to fill out which would be talking about the possible hazards or problems that we could encounter while we are filming our trailer.

This is the location the trailer will be filmed due to the plot of the film being based in a college where students break in, the filming will be based both inside and outside of the college to show that they have broken in.

Research And Planning: Shooting Times

Given that my roles for this project are Cinematography and Editing I have come to the conclusion that the shooting will be taking place where it is dark outside and the reasoning for this is because it will fit in well with the genre of a film, given that it is horror being filmed at night will give it more of a frightening feeling.

This is a video that I created on iMovie, I added slide transitions and sounds to the storyboard in which I created, the story board consisted of images that we had come up with based on our trailer.

Research and Planning: Film Magazine Analysis 2

 

May Movies is a  horror based film magazine as we can see it is advertising the film Jennifer's Body and so this magazine is great at giving me and Kyle ideas on when we come to create our magazine. The colour scheme in which has been used on the May Movies is red, white and yellow/orange these are appropriate colours considering the genre of the film being horror. The colours that have been used are very dark on the cover and this yet again indicates the horror aspect to the magazine, like many magazines in general, it has a masthead, barcode, image, taglines and other information down the sides of the image.

Research and Planning: Film Magazine analysis

This Empire magazine is not a horror based magazine however the way they have structured the magazine could be very useful when myself and Kyle come to do our magazine for our horror film. The image that has been used on the front of the magazine Batman could be simply exchanged with a horror picture from our film and then the rest of the layout would fit perfectly with the horror genre. They follow the use of the three colour rule which in this case is black, blue and white and seeing the three colour rule on professional magazines like this means that this is something we will definitely consider when coming to doing our magazine. Some of the features that are used on this film magazine that we will incorporate into our magazine are that they all have a masthead at the top of the page usually, barcode, tagline, images and a film title that the magazine is promoting for this certain issue.

Some of the distribution company ideas that will we create to distribute our film will be:

Me and Kyle have just had a small meeting to discuss who will be creating the logo's for each of the production and distribution company, we came to the conclusion that I will be doing things related to the production company and Kyle will be doing the distribution related things.

Research And Planning: Productions Company Ideas.

The Production Company Ideas that I have come up with that I believe would be appropriate for the Horror film that I shall be creating are:

These are the names at which I think I could use for the Production Company, these would allow me to make a Logo based on these names when I come to create it.

Before I am to create my film company logo, I looked at professional company logos so that I could get an idea on what I was to include when I came to creating my own for my film. The independent film company logos are much simpler than the conglomerate film company logos so when I create my film companies logo I will create it like a independent film companies logo.

Me and Kyle planned a meeting this week on Thursday to talk about where we were up to and what we were going to do next, we planned on doing:

Research And Planning: Film Poster Analysis 2

 

 This is the second poster in which I have looked at Paranormal Activity 2, the genre of the film through the poster is represented as a horror due to the baby in the picture not being shown in the reflection in the bedroom mirror, the dog also seems to be barking at something which is not being shown along with the baby also looking in the same direction, the dark colours used also indicate the genre of the film to be a horror with the blue tinge that with also see. A high angle wide shot has been used to show the bedroom that the dog and the child are in, this shows the film to be horror for two reasons given that they are being looked down upon by something we cannot see and also that we can see the child and the dog looking at the door which something could be behind, we are also able to see the baby not being shown in the reflection showing that the poster is representing horror. The narrative that is being represented in the poster is that the house has something in there and we get the sense of this through the dog and the baby looking at a half opened door and the dog appearing to be barking, this makes you want to watch the film as you want to see what is behind the door. We are able to see that the poster is aimed at people aged 15-30 as this is an appropriate age for people to watch horrors. The mise-en-scene show that it is a childs bedroom through the cot in the left hand corner and the toys that are scattered around the room

Research And Planning: Film Poster Analysis

 

From the poster, I am able to see straight away through the image used that the genre of the movie is horror given that the colours in which have been used are very dark indicating the film to be very dark aswell, the title of the film also may indicate that the genre of the film is horror has The Grudge sounds very sinister. The dark grey tone over the face and the very bleak colours add to the effect that the genre is horror. The audience in which I believe this film to be aimed at is 15-30 years due to horror films tending to attract this type of audience. The extreme close up of the eye on the poster this shows us that the character may be very dark due to the hair we see covering the face giving it the spooky effect and there is mystery to this character showing the darkness behind the character. The narrative shown through the poster is that the girl is possessed and haunts people and 'It never forgives, It never forgets' tagline indicates that the character will be there to haunt you for the rest of your life clarifying more to the audience it is a horror film.

The costumes I shall be using are as follows:

- Smart casual clothing, given that they have just come from a party and have no gone onto college given that they have just finished there two year course and feel like doing something bad to the college.

Similar clothing to this shall be worn by the males.

Research and Planning: Equipment and Software list

This is the final cut software, and this is where we shall be doing all of our editing for our trailer.

This is iMovie, I shall be adding all of the filming in which I have done on here so that I can put them all together in one.

Photoshop will be used because I will have to make a poster and also a magazine cover to go with the trailer.

The SLR camera will be used to take pictures of our actors and also the other things like where we will be filmed etc.

I shall use this primarily in the filming.

I shall be using this to film some of the trailer given that is easy and small to use.

Here I shall be making the music for the trailer, this shall be entirely made by me

This is where I shall be adding all of the photos and then going on to editing them.

Reasearch and Planning: Treatment

We had to make the decision on which plot that we wanted to use, we decided to use our first one because we both believe that it is better than the other plot that we thought of, and so did our class mates once we asked their opinion.

The clip starts off with a close up of a beer bottle, the camera then zooms out and and there are several students enjoying themselves with their friends on a Friday night (natural sounds)

It then straight cuts to a long shot from behind the students of them climbing over the college gates that they go to. From that, it jump cuts to another long shot of them with a metal bar breaking into the college through a window (loud breaking noise).

Once they are inside of the college, they notice that most of the doors are unlocked (close up of door handle) and when they are inside of the rooms they see that one of the rooms has the tables turned and other things in the room.

It jump cuts to one of the student who is wondering where some of his friends are, as they have gone missing and haven't been since they broke into the college. Long shot of them wandering around college shouting out their names looking for them (dialogue).

From a distance they notice that there is blood coming from under the door and they start to think that there friend is playing a prank on them, they enter the room (high angle close up of him entering the room) and they see their friends are dead.

They turn and go to run away and notice that the lights are turned off from where they came from (long shot of corridor) and weird things starts happening to them all as they see something which they can not make out what it is.

Jump cuts to the students families crying at the college while the bodies are checked to see if it is their children who is dead.

Research And Planning: Proposals

Plot 1 - Set in college late at night where a group of 5 students have been out on the booze earlier and they are on the way home when the decide to break into college after they have just finished the term and are looking for something daring to do. Filmed in a classroom that they are able to get into where they begin to play music very loud and continue to drink more alcohol when suddenly the lights go off and the group begin to panic wondering what is happening, at first they think its just a power cut but when they begin to hear loud noises and one of the group sees a shadow they begin to realise it not just a power cut that has taken place.

Plot 2 - Set in a house where there is a 15 year old teenager who is home alone after his parents have gone away for the night. The house has a power cut when the teenager is home and he starts seeing some sort of ghostly figure. The paranormal being causes pain to the teenager and possesses him and he acts strange and when the parents come home in the night they notice that their child is possessed and acting very strange and has cuts and looks different and then he kills his parents.

Research And Planning: Garage Band

Here is a horror sound that I have put together on garage band as an example of the sort of music that I shall be including when I come to make my teaser trailer. This sound fits in well with the genre of the film I shall be making.

Research And Planning: Prop Ideas

The props in which I could use in the making of my trailer shall be things such as alcohol due to the people in the trailer are going to be seen having a party, balloons could also be used along with other party items. A handheld camera could also be a prop in which I am to use given that the shots are coming from the perspective of the people and also the filmer themselves to give you their point of view also.

Beer shall be present in the trailer.

A hand held camera shall also be used.

Balloons could also be seen in the shot to give you the impression a party is taking place.
